Notes
[Source 1] The date refers to the year of the news. The newspaper note talks about the dismissal of Captain Lieutenant J. Bonifacio Carvalho, who was in command of the Escola de Aprendises Marinheiros da Parahyba. The reason for the dismissal is not detailed, only stating "it caused a very bad impression here". [Source 2] Regarding the Companhia de Aprendizes Marinheiros, it is said that it operates in Fortaleza de Santa Catharina, in the town of Cabedello and that it has, at the time, the following "staffing": 01 commander (function exercised by the Port Captain), 01 First Lieutenant of the Navy, 01 Second Surgeon of the Armada Health Corps, 01 Chaplain, 01 Finance Officer, 01 Master, 01 Second Sergeant, 01 Storekeeper, 01 Master-at-arms, 01 Nurse, 01 Gunner, 04 1st Class Imperial Sailors and 90 apprentice sailors. During the period, it had 60 minors, with 13 apprentices to be sent to the Corpo de Imperiais Marinheiros. As a missing structure, the absence of an appropriate vessel for the minor apprentices to acquire "convenient nautical instruction" is highlighted. [Source 3] In 1924, the Escola de Aprendizes was still in operation. See: Sources/Newspapers: #JRN-75.
