Description

Swedish brig, loaded with coal bound for Singapore. The entire crew was saved and all cargo was lost.

[Source 1] Transcription: "A.F. Stromberg, captain of the Swedish brig A.O. Anderson, shipwrecked on the Penha reefs, is auctioning a launch, a boat, and the hull of said ship, all in the condition they are found, at the customs house door and in the presence of the Swedish vice-consul, tomorrow at noon. Parahyba October 12, 1864". [Source 2] According to the newspaper "O Publicador", on October 14, the vessel ran aground on the "picão dos baixos do Cabo Branco, 4 leagues distant from this capital, a Swedish brig, whose crew, seeing the ship lost, jumped to land, Dr. Chief of Police on the same occasion dispatched the sub-delegate of the 1st district of the capital accompanied by 3 mounted soldiers to take the necessary measures, and inform him of everything that had happened as soon as possible."
