April 2024 was a historic month for Museu Marítimo EXEA! We celebrated the official inauguration of our own publishing label, Editora Museu EXEA, a fundamental step for the dissemination of maritime research and knowledge. Marking the publisher's debut, we launched the Book "As navegações no Extremo Oriental das Américas: 1850-1950", authored by our member Ticiano Alves. Additionally, we opened the thought-provoking exhibition "Vikings: kings of the sea", curated by Johnni Langer. The show explores representations of Vikings in 19th and 20th-century art, through paintings and illustrations (mainly of Scandinavian and American origin) that oscillate between the romantic vision of the adventurous hero and that of the barbarian conqueror.
