February at the EXEA Museum: "The Spanish Brazil" Exhibition Explores the Iberian Union, and Museum Attends International Seminar.

2/29/24, 3:00 PM

The month of February at the EXEA Maritime Museum was marked by historical knowledge and academic exchange. We inaugurated the exhibition "The Spanish Brazil," curated by historian Sylvia Brito. The exhibition offers an overview of the period of the Iberian Union (1580-1640), when Portugal and its colonies, including Brazil, were under Spanish rule. Sylvia Brito addresses key moments, such as the Armada of the Strait of Magellan and the Dutch invasion of Salvador in 1624. Furthermore, we highlight the participation of our members Ticiano Alves and Alexandra Figueiredo in the prestigious Raízes Seminar, promoted by the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, in Portugal, strengthening international ties and the EXEA's contribution to historical research.
