May was a busy month filled with new developments at the EXEA Maritime Museum, featuring the launch of a new exhibition, a book, and an important database. The exhibition "Peixeira – António Cravo" brought to the public the fascinating practice of artisanal "peixeira" or "saltadoiro" fishing, traditional to the Ria de Aveiro in Portugal, and still maintained by Ti Manoel Viola and Alfredo. The exhibit includes audio description produced by the author himself, providing an immersive and accessible experience.

Additionally, the museum celebrated the launch of the book "Uma História da Alimentação – Volume 1" (A History of Food – Volume 1), authored by Leandro Vilar Oliveira. Published by the museum's own publishing house, the event took place on May 30th at Livraria do Luiz in João Pessoa, with a well-attended book signing.

To cap off the month, EXEA launched an unprecedented database on Atlantic maritime museums. This innovative tool catalogs museological institutions from various countries bordering this ocean, solidifying the museum's position as a reference and research center in the field. May reaffirmed the EXEA Maritime Museum's commitment to culture, research, and the dissemination of maritime knowledge.
