12/5/21, 7:30 PM
The extensive article addresses one of the most important and violent clashes that occurred during the colonial period. In the heart of the 17th century, more precisely in the year 1631, on one side were the Dutch, founders of the West India Company, and on the other, the Iberian Union, formed by Portugal and Spain.
"On December 1, 1631, the Dutch held a service in Recife praying for luck in the upcoming battle. The next day, the Dutch fleet with 16 ships and 1,600 men left the port of Recife. On the 4th, they arrived at Cabo Branco Beach. The invasion was ordered for the morning of the 5th, in Formosa." Phelipe Caldas, g1 PB (2021)
