All Sea Vol 2

In this edition

The 2nd volume of All SEA (supplement to Atlanticus) explores Underwater Archaeology in aquatic and humid environments. It presents sites from Portugal, Oman, and Brazil, seeking to expand the cartography of underwater archaeological heritage.

All Sea Vol 2

The second volume of All SEA, a supplement to the Atlanticus journal, dedicated to Underwater Archaeology, reinforces the idea of the sea as a bridge. The volume advances in the construction of an inventory of sites in aquatic or humid environments, now including a cavity site (Gruta do Bacelinho) to expand the concept of Underwater Archaeology beyond the purely nautical, maritime, or fluvial context.

This volume invites a chronological and geographical journey. It presents sites from Portugal, covering remains from antiquity to the modern period (including the nau Nª Srª da Conceição in Ericeira and finds in the Tagus River), and from abroad, such as the Al Hallaniyah site in Oman (possible vessel of Vasco da Gama) and the Naufragados site in Santa Catarina, Brazil (16th century), with artifacts from the Philippine dynasty.

With these new contributions, the publication seeks to expand the cartography and representativeness of underwater and humid environment archaeological heritage, step by step, consolidating All SEA as a space for dissemination and exchange in this field of study.
