About the author

Ticiano Vanderlei de Siqueira Alves was born in Minas Gerais in 1981. In 2000, he entered the Fisheries Engineering course at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, completing it in 2005. From then on, he continued his postgraduate studies, obtaining a Master's degree in Water Resources from UFPE (2011), a Specialization in Underwater Archaeology from the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and the Autonomous University of Lisbon (2016), and a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Coimbra (2019).

His academic career began in 2010 at the Federal Institute of Paraíba – IFPB, where he worked as a teacher in various technical courses (fishing, tourism, waterway transport, among others), higher education (administration, graphic design, and biology), extension courses (basic maritime navigation and electronics), and in the Maritime Professional Education (POP, PEP, MAC, and Deckhand).


Since 2014, when he began his doctorate in archaeology, he has dedicated himself to the study and research of maritime cultural heritage. In this area, he was one of the founding members of the EXEA Maritime Museum (Mar. 2021), the first virtual maritime museum in Brazil (IBRAM 9.48.53.8368). At this institution, he has held positions such as Designer (>2021), Research Coordinator (2021), General Director (2022-2023), Exhibitions Coordinator, and Editor-in-Chief of EXEA Publishing (>2024).
