Uma história da alimentação: Volume 1 (Edição Luxuosa)

The work is divided into three parts: the first explores the history of sugar, the second focuses on various foods, and the third addresses some beverages. Each chapter follows a similar structure, with an introduction and biological information about the plants, since all items, except for milk, are of plant origin.

Next, a historical account is developed from Prehistory or Antiquity to the Contemporary Age, covering themes such as economy, politics, geographical expansion, uses for health and, at times, for magic. The work also examines the association of food and beverages with religious beliefs and addresses industrialization.

Although it is essentially a work of cultural history about food, the Book also explores themes of social, political, economic, religious, and global history, in addition to philology, mythology, sociology, and anthropology. The simple language allows readers to be enchanted by the stories of popular foods and beverages.

Thus, the work makes it possible to understand the significant impacts that these foods and beverages have caused throughout History, offering a comprehensive and accessible view of the evolution of human food and its influence on various aspects of society.
