Notes

[Source 1] In 1923, after years of waiting, the fishermen of Parahyba witnessed the installation of the Bahia da Traição Lighthouse. For this moment to happen, the "old fisherman" Manoel Ignácio, president of the Bahia da Traição Fishermen's Colony, went to Rio de Janeiro to request the lighthouse from the Navigation board of directors. To contribute to the construction, the fishermen's colony provided the commander with a group of 40 men. [Transcription Source 1] "The new light pole, placed at the end of the reef that runs along the coast of Parahyba, giving an opening to the Bahia da Traição, will provide two services: prevent the constant disasters of barge and small cabotage navigation and guide high-sea navigation, since the pole with a range of 11 miles, located halfway between the Bacopary and Pedra Seca lighthouses, will facilitate entry to the port of Parahyba."
