[Source 1] In 1923, after years of waiting, the fishermen of Parahyba witnessed the installation of the Bahia da Traição Lighthouse. For this moment to happen, the "old fisherman" Manoel Ignácio, president of the Bahia da Traição Fishermen's Colony, went to Rio de Janeiro to request the lighthouse from the Navigation board of directors. To contribute to the construction, the fishermen's colony provided the commander with a group of 40 men.
