[Source 2] In 1872, the "parts of which the lighthouse of Cabedelo should be composed" were deposited at the customs house of Parahyba do Norte. These, at the request of the president of the province, were sent to a government-owned house in Cabedelo for better storage of them. Having come from the imperial court, the 1st Lieutenant of the Navy José Maria do Nascimento Júnior was tasked, by the Ministry of the Navy, "to determine the point where the lighthouse should be built".
[Source 3] In 1873, the "Pedra-secca Lighthouse", installed at the entrance to the Cabedelo bar, was already in operation, requiring for its operation and maintenance two lighthouse keepers who alternated service shifts.
