In response to a request from Museu EXEA, data on shipwrecks on the Brazilian coast were provided by the Diretoria do Patrimônio Histórico e Documentação da Marinha do Brazil. The information was transmitted by Captain Paulo Castro, Head of the History Department.
The data include information regarding vessels that shipwrecked along the coast. This information is part of the Atlas dos Naufrágios de Interesse Histórico da Costa do Brazil Project, developed by the Marinha do Brazil.
The spatial scope of this dataset covers the coast of the States of Pernambuco, Paraíba, and Rio Grande do Norte. The Atlas of Shipwrecks of Historical Interest Project focuses on records of historical value of these maritime losses in the region.
